Whisper gasped as he struggled to keep up with Sky. He was beggining to think that this so called 'cool' place was just a fragment of Sky's imagination. As he was runnning, he saw a mouse out of the corner of his vision. He broke away, running straight towards the small rodent. The rodent ran away as Whisper neared running on clumsy paws and snapping twigs. Whisper took chase, sprinting after the smaller creature and following it as it disapeared down an unseen hole. He moved down the hole only stop when everything seemed to go dark... Where was he? He glanced around him and let out a hiss of frustration as he heard the tiny pattering of paws as his prey escaped his grasp. He turned around, and saw a very dim light that marked the entrance to the hole, or wherever he was. He padded towards the light and emerged into the forest once again. He looked around him, realising he was all alone! Where was Sky? Had she left him?
Sky glanced after the other kit but he was already out of her sight, quickly she bounded after him her light paw-steps leaving faint paw-prints in the muddy ground beneath her. She paused slightly trying to catch the other kits scent but for once her nose failed her, she carefully avoided going down where she knew her discovery laid. She could vaguely hear her brother running noisily behind her, scaring off whatever prey was in the forest; she'd lost Whisper! She was going to be in so much trouble if she didn't find him,he could get into all sorts of trouble in their territory, her mother had warned her against several places and Sky was heading towards one of them. She stopped when she saw the dead log that was a sign she was at the entrance to Desolate Bank, she stared before hoping desperately her friend had not gone into territory even she had yet to explore. She turned on her paws and ran back to her earlier destination hoping she would find her friend nearby and not near Desolate Bank.
Whisper was confused as he ran around in circles, fear gripping him like a clawed hand. Where was he? He suddenly desperatly wished he hadn't ran after that blasted mouse - he hadn't even caught it! He imagined being lost in the territory for days on end... He imagined Cloud's angry face and her bristling fur, she would ban him from leaving the den for fiftyhundred moons! He shivered, his tiny body trembling, he was cold, scared and hunger began to gnaw at his stomach. He knew that if he called out to Sky, a very angry Cloud would hear him but he would rather not be lost and cold... He took a deep breath. "Sky!" he called out, "where are you?" He shivered again as a sudden cold breeze struck out at him, howling and whistling at the terrified kit. How long will I have to stay here? he thought, he longed to see the fimiliar face of Sky and feel the warmth of Cloud's thick warm fur.
Silver gasped for breath as he leapt after his sister, he crashed into various objects; trees, logs, rocks, stones and trees. He wondered how his sister could run so fast on such little legs, they were only kits! They weren't built for running, Sky might be but he sure wasn't. "Sky wait up!" He called after his ignorant sister as she easily dodged everything that blocked her path and leapt over a small stream, okay he may have been over exaggerating since she crashed into a few objects and slipped down a bank before crashing into a boulder. He flicked his tail in annoyance and had the urge to run away after falling into a puddle of mud, now his fur was filthy! He was going to get in trouble for this. He hissed angrily before bounding after his sister once more; his quick break over. He arrived at the top of a bank to see his sister slide down it and crash into the form of another kit, Silver hissed in annoyance before going to help his sister! Some strange cat was on their territory! He yowled loudly at the kit before realizing it was Whisper, "How embarrassing!" He mewed quietly while ducking his head in shame and letting his tail droop. he'd almost attacked his friend!
Whisper breathed a sigh of relief, Sky was here! And so was Silver! He blinked in surprise when his friend yowled at him before realizing that Silver was at first unsure of he was. He puffed out his thick fur, warding of chill of winter as he attempted to shuffle himself into a more comfortable position. "I'm glad your here!" he mewed, "I actually thought I was lost." he admitted. "Sorry for running of like that, there was just the biggest mouse you have ever seen!" He threw a side-long glance at Silver. "How did you get so muddy?" he asked curiously. His mother had always told him to keep his questions to himself but his curiosity was too strong! He hoped that one day he might be able to know everything about the how to be the best wildcat ever! I know my Mum is the best ever! He thought, than he suddenly wished he hadn't thought about Cloud; she was going to be so angry with him!
Silver blinked thoughtfully at the other kit before huffing noisily, he knew he was covered in mud, the other cat did not have to embarrass him about it, now Sky would notice and whine at him! He fluffed up his fur and decided against licking his fur clean, who liked getting mud in their mouth? It tasted horrid. He pawed the ground before looking up at his sister and Whisper curiously. "Were you going somewhere?" He mewed thoughtfully.
Whisper threw a side-long glance at Sky. "No, we weren't" he lied, "Just mucking around... You know?" he let out a nervous laugh before attempting to regain his composure. He averted his gaze to the ground, aware of Silver's gaze penetrating him. He kneaded his claws into the soft forest floor I just lied to Silver! he thought, how could I do that? Guilt washed over the young tom.
Sky threw her brother an imperious look before mentally hissing at him. Great, now they couldn't go to the secret place cause he would go and tell their mother's. "We were just exploring, what do you think of the landscape, Silver?" She mewled sarcastically while pawing the ground while giving him a look which could cearly read; 'Get lost' but her brother had always been rather dim. "It's very ummm pretty?" He mewled making it sound more like a question then a statement. "That's what I thought! Why don't you go over to the other side of our territory and tell us what that side looks like!" She meowed mockingly allowing a mixture of seriousness to enter her tone. He gave her a confused gaze while flicking his tail nervously, "But you already know what it looks like!"She flexed her claws while gazing steadily at him. "Do you never get a hint?" She hissed bluntly, hoping he would just leave, they couldnt go anywhere with him, he would run to their mother's with his tail between his legs, Pu.ssycat she yowled inwardly.
Whisper raised his head, a sudden thought coming to him. "I don't know what it's like on the other side of the territory!" he pretended to whine, giving Silver a pleading look. "I bet you could go and look for me! That would be great because I really want to know what it looks like!" He tried to hide a grin as he threw his most adorable wide-eyed look at Silver which would be enough to make butter melt. Pleeaasseee Silver? It would be soo cool! His dark amber orbs lit up in feigned excitement as he continued his pleading gaze, fixing it on Sky's brother. He couldn't help it no longer though, he threw a quick grin at Sky to show he was only joking and that in reality he wasn't a whiny brat like he was pretending to be!
